OUR HISTORY

The activity currently carried out by Sapec Terminais Portuários began in 1926.

In the first phase of development, it is associated with the needs of the group Sapec, first as an exporter of pyrites and then as an importer of raw materials for fertilizers, in a more marked way until around 1970.

From 1970 to 1990, there was a second phase of consolidation of fertilizer activity and investments both in the docks and in lifting equipment, for movements in the order of 300/350 thousand tons.

The following phases now appear, with a different perspective on the activity of the pier, where the following events are influential:

  • Fertilizer restructuring of 1995/1998, which rethought port activity in terms of unloading and storage capacity;

  • Use of community resources for development;

  • Strategic vision for the integration of other functions in port activity

Entry into force of the concessions law and the Public Service Concession for cargo handling at the Sapec Port Terminal. Starting in 1995 with the signing of the concession contract, the history of the Sapec pier is a success story that included the entry into operation of a Liquid Bulk Terminal (TGL) in April 2004, and awaiting a positive response to our request for a Productivity Improvement Project at the Sapec Port Terminal, which will create conditions for improving public service and provide a good response to current and future customers of the SAPEC bay Industrial Park.
